HR Unity v5.6 includes enhanced rostering, new performance review module, e-recruitment, automatic expenses calculation, integration with SIMS Education system and support for facial recognition

CIPD Annual Conference & Exhibition, 4-5 November, Manchester Central, Stand: F62

Carval Computing will be showing the newly launched HR Unity v5.6 at the CIPD Annual Conference & Exhibition. New features include an enhanced rostering system, a new Performance Review module, e-Recruitment, and a new Expenses feature enabling automatic calculation of mileage from postcodes. The Time and Attendance module has been updated to support facial recognition terminals, increasing security and reducing attendance fraud. Carval has also achieved accreditation with Capita as a SIMS integrator, with its HR software fully integrating with the schools administration system, reducing the duplication and management of HR data.

The enhanced Rostering system enables managers to compile rosters for shifts using more detailed information based on staff availability and skill sets. The system holds details of when staff usually work (ie, certain days of the week, no nights etc), and individual staff members are able to fine tune this availability as circumstances dictate, either using Self Service or via text. This enables staff to manage their work/life balance and it saves managers time when creating rosters.

The new Expenses feature enables managers to validate mileage claims via the optional built-in point-to-point mileage calculator. The Timesheet module now also includes the expenses and mileage calculation allowing the total cost for projects and activities to be analysed. Staff now have access to Timesheets via the Self Service module, which is particularly useful for mobile and field workers.

With HR Unity v5.6 Carval introduces its new e-Recruitment module which links the core HR system to the customer’s external website. Vacancies are created within HR Unity and then published directly to the recruitment section of the website where candidates can apply online. Each vacancy can be individually configured, and appropriate documents or application forms attached. When candidates set up an account to apply, the details can be automatically imported to the core HR system, avoiding rekeying of data.

The new Performance Review module enables HR and line managers to streamline the performance review process with automated workflows that reduce the administrative burden of monitoring and updating job reviews. The completely redeveloped module is designed to provide an automated approach to setting up company-wide review processes. It starts with calendar invites to set up reviews, requests for competencies and evidence to be completed first by the employee and then the manager. This workflow process continues with objectives being set and reviewed throughout the year until the next annual review, flagging when training or skills need to be checked. A built-in time and date stamp provides an audit trail to ensure that actions are followed up and completed.

In addition, v5.6 includes updates that make it easier to use, for instance, menus within the Self-service function have been revised, with many screens having hyperlinks to make navigation quicker.

John Ovington, Sales and Support Director at Carval said; “The latest enhancements to HR Unity have been designed to support the way that HR teams and HR focused companies wish to work. We have streamlined many of the administration processes that can be time-consuming and prone to errors to free up HR and line managers to concentrate on the development and skillsets of staff within an organisation, whether to support them in their current roles or provide training to help them grow into new ones. Our latest accreditation with Capita also recognises our status as an established supplier of HR and Payroll software to the Education sector.”
