Staff at leading heating and air conditioning manufacturer give Self-Service portal warm reception and benefit from HR administration efficiencies
Carval Computing, a specialist supplier of fully integrated Human Resources, Payroll and Time & Attendance (T&A) software, has announced that McQuay, a manufacturer of heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment is using Carval’s HR Unity solution. McQuay UK Ltd selected Carval’s integrated HR, Payroll, Time and Attendance and Self-Service modules to support staff at its site in Cramlington, Northumberland, where engineers manufacture a variety of air handling units. Carval’s HR software was selected for its ease of use and the fact that its uses one centralised set of data.
McQuay implemented all four modules of Carval’s HR Unity in just four months, including a trial month, before going live in April 2014. Prior to Carval’s solution, McQuay had been using separate systems to manage HR, Payroll and Time and Attendance data. HR data is now only entered once and is immediately available throughout the system, making creating reports, sharing information and automating processes straightforward, helping to improve policy adherence. McQuay has also taken the Payroll in-house, previously managed by an external bureau. No extra staff have been required as a result of operational efficiencies achieved through the integration of data from the T&A module to Payroll.
“The real savings have been the efficiencies that we get from having one centralised set of data. The integration with our Time and Attendance and Payroll software has saved us time and errors and the Self-Service option has been really well received by staff, making it much easier to keep data up to date. This will really pay dividends – as we do more with the system, it will get even better,” said Wendy Peacock, Deputy Financial Controller at McQuay.
“We set ourselves an ambitious target to be up and running in four months, but we achieved it. The support from Carval was really customer focused – they made sure things happened when they said they would.”
McQuay is using Carval’s Time and Attendance software to capture working hours, which integrates with the HR and Payroll systems. Staff use the Self-Service module via a secure portal to update their personal details, book holidays and see who else in their team has booked time off. McQuay operates a successful flexitime system for office staff, which means they are able to accrue leave or payment for extra hours worked and view the status online. It makes it makes it easier for managers to oversee departmental leave online. Payslips are also available electronically, reducing the costs of processing, printing and distributing them.
The HR team is currently collating appraisal and training information on the system, which will allow staff to check training requirements and request courses online.
John Ovington, Sales and Support Director at Carval Computing said; “We have designed our software to support HR and finance operations for companies like McQuay, whose main focus needs to be their own manufacturing and servicing business. Our systems support every aspect of Human Resource Management and enable administration efficiencies that can significantly reduce the operating costs associated with HR and Payroll departments and free up people’s time to spend on activities that will benefit the business.”
Carval solutions are available as on premise, hosted or outsourced solutions.
