Evolution of vulnerability management
The proactive response to emerging security threats is one of the corner stones to protecting an organisations sensitive data. In 2014, 83% of all vulnerabilities had patches available on the day of disclosure according to data from Secunia Research. Once vulnerabilities are known it may only be a matter of time until those with nefarious intent exploit it.
However, managing complex IT estates with diverse software is a huge challenge for IT departments. They need the intelligence to accurately identify and prioritise the remediation of vulnerabilities discovered. Effective vulnerability management and patch management tools are critical to achieving an improved security posture.
