2012 FIA Production Cup for Drivers of 2 Wheel Drive Cars Champion Inspires Sunrise Chairman with Passion and Drive

Chessington, Surrey, 24 July 2014. Service Management software company, Sunrise Software, has announced a sponsorship deal with reigning British Rally Championship (BRC) ladies’ champion Louise Cook in support of her continued bid to become the first woman to lift the World Rally Championship (WRC) trophy.

Louise, 27, who began rally driving whilst studying car design at Coventry University aged 19, has been funding her own rally aspirations in a number of creative and innovative ways in order to achieve her ultimate goal of becoming World Rally Champion. As well as being a driver, Louise has become business woman, entrepreneur, marketer and fundraiser in order to drive her ambition forward; selling sponsorship spots on her BRC and WRC rally car, auctioning her trophies on eBay, participating in promotional events including driving with actor Idris Elba on his “King of Speed” series and being guest speaker at team events, which is how Louise became known to Sunrise owner and Chairman, Tom Weston.

“It’s rare to meet someone with such drive and determination,” says Tom of Louise. “Having spoken with Louise on a number of occasions I find her to be the embodiment of determination, especially in the male dominated world of rally driving. What she is doing is difficult and yet she continues forward relentlessly.”

Sunrise Software provides a range of highly tailor-able Service Desk Management Software solutions to help companies including United Biscuits, Ginsters, Channel Islands Co-op, Sheffield International Venues, Anglian Water and globally renowned footwear brand Fit Flop, to better manage their IT and Customer Service Desks and to manage processes such as HR, Facilities and beyond. With over 20 years of experience, the people of Sunrise have learnt a lot of things, the most important is that people just want good software which does what it promises, irrespective of the challenges.

“I really felt that Louise personified the spirit and the creativity of the Sunrise team with her ambition and her creative approach to the challenges that come up”, adds Tom. “We’re thrilled to be sponsoring her and look forward to being a part of her success.”

For Louise, Sunrise’s support has meant a great deal so far. “I made my debut in 2012 and it was a big risk moving from the BRC to the world stage. Not only were the event costs so much higher, but the consequences of a 15,000 Euros fine per round missed and disqualification was a scary prospect.” explains Louise. “I knew I had to make the step and I achieved my goal by claiming an FIA title. I learnt so much and learnt what I have to do to achieve my main goal. The sponsorship is a key part, without the sponsorship you cannot even start the car in motorsport. Sponsorship from successful companies like Sunrise Software makes it happen, it gives me the confidence to achieve the main goal and belief is everything in this sport.”

Louise Cook’s next event will be Rallye Monte-Carlo

NOTES TO EDITORS

About Louise Marguerite Cook

Louise Cook made history in 2012 becoming the FIA Production Car Cup for Drivers of 2WD Champion and importantly becoming the first female to lift an FIA Rally Championship title not specifically made for women.

Louise got her first taste of driving when her late father, Robert Cook, bought her a battery powered car on her 6th birthday. Louise’s first experience of rally driving was at 19 whilst studying Car Design at Coventry University. Louise entered a competition designed to encourage more women into rallying and came 2nd out of 1000, with no previous motorsport experience.

Since then Louise has gone from strength to strength and has financed her career by generating sponsorship including advertising space on her car, selling her much beloved road car, and auctioning her trophies on eBay.
