Transparent recording of working hours helps boost staff morale
hfx, a leading provider of flexible working systems, has announced that Thorogoods, a national timber merchant, has upgraded to hfx’s flagship product Etarmis to record and manage flexible working for staff. Thorogoods invested in hfx’s workforce management system to manage time and attendance for all personnel working on site. Using Etarmis has resulted in payroll and production efficiencies, improved staff morale and enabled the company to comply with health and safety regulations.
Etarmis is hfx’s fully integrated workforce management system that can be interfaced to HR, payroll, access control, finance and other key business systems. Thorogoods is using data from the time and attendance system to calculate staff payroll and manage sickness and holiday entitlement.
Robert Thorogood, Financial Director at Thorogoods, commented; “We had been using hfx for a number of years and felt that a move to hfx’s latest version, Etarmis was the progression that we wanted to make to support the business. We have changed our operating systems and hfx integrates well. It is so much easier to use and to get the information that we need.
“hfx saves our payroll staff at least three hours a week by having the new system, despite having increased the number of staff. Productivity has definitely improved as we know when we have the right staff in to operate the equipment. Everyone knows that the system is accurate so there is no dispute – and we have seen a definite improvement in timekeeping.”
Thorogoods is using both the remote clocking in and out option as well as proximity cards to manage time and attendance for all its staff. Having visibility of staff on the premises is important to meet production schedules, where certain machines require set numbers of operatives. Registering staff on site, spread over several acres, is also important for Thorogoods to meet health and safety legislation requirements.
Paski Matarazzo, Business Development Director at hfx said; “The way that we all work has changed dramatically in the last ten years and we have designed Etarmis to meet those changes. We have worked in close collaboration with our customers like Thorogoods – people who know what they need from a time recording, absence planning and personnel management system to support their growing business.”
hfx’s Etarmis integrates with all the mainstream HR systems (including Oracle, SAP, PeopleSoft and Northgate), enabling organisations to manage flexible working, while keeping employee data synchronised across HR and payroll systems.
